Man in California Hospitalized After Shark Attack Off Del Mar Beach

A 46-year-old man in California was hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening after a shark bit him during a group swim on the morning of Sunday, June 2.

According to a press release posted by the city of Del Mar, the apparent shark attack took place around 9 a.m. local time and 100 yards offshore from the city’s Beach Safety Center at 17th Street. At the time, the victim was training with around a dozen swimmers who meet up regularly.

An ambulance transported him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was treated for his injuries, which included bites to the torso, left arm and hand. The injuries were considered significant but not believed to be life-threatening, per city officials.

TOKYO, Jun 03 – The former CEO of a company involved in selling ‘marijuana gummies’ has been arrested for the third time.

Daisuke Matsumoto, the 39-year-old former CEO of a company, was detained on suspicion of violating the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act. In February, he allegedly possessed HHC, a designated drug with similar components to marijuana, with the intent to sell it at a store in Osaka.

During a house search in February, approximately 700 items, including cookies and gummies, were seized, and some were found to contain the designated drug HHC.

Buxton Fringe Festival 2024: 190+ International Events, Local Talent & More

Buxton Fringe (July 3 to 21) will have more than 190 events this year, with the entries hailing from both the UK and the other side of the world. One of the biggest UK Fringes between Edinburgh and Brighton, the Fringe runs in parallel with the prestigious Buxton International Festival and is renowned for its friendliness, eclectic programme and lively atmosphere.

It was established a year after the festival in 1980, and 2024 marks its 45th event. This year’s Fringe will see a fascinating mix of the local and international with street theatre exploring the town’s rich history and theatre and spoken word events hailing from Canada, the US and Australia. There is even a swing-dancing class all the way from Chicago.

Former BrahMos Engineer Sentenced to Life for Spying on India

NEW DELHI: A former engineer from BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd, Nishant Agarwal, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Nagpur district court on Monday. This sentence is under the Official Secrets Act for his involvement in spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Agarwal also received rigorous imprisonment for 14 years and was fined Rs 3,000.

Additional sessions court judge MV Deshpande specified that Agarwal was found guilty under section 235 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This was for offenses punishable under section 66(f) of the IT Act and various sections of the Official Secrets Act.

The court sentenced Agarwal to life imprisonment and RI for 14 years under the Official Secrets Act and fined him Rs 3,000, stated Special Public Prosecutor Jyoti Vajani.

Agarwal worked in the technical research section of BrahMos Aerospace’s missile center in Nagpur. He was arrested in 2018 during a joint operation by the military intelligence and Anti-terrorism squads of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The former engineer faced charges under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the stringent Official Secrets Act.

He was accused of leaking sensitive technical information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Agarwal had been employed at the BrahMos facility for four years.

BrahMos Aerospace is a collaborative venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the military Industrial Consortium (NPO Mashinostroyenia) of Russia.

Last April, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court granted bail to Agarwal.

Major Road Construction Projects Impacting Ross and Pike Counties in Ohio, US

CHILLICOTHE – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Ross and Pike counties. All outlined work is weather permitting. Projects with active or future traffic impacts are linked to the appropriate sources.

Ohio 28 Culvert Replacement: Work on the culvert replacement project on Ohio 28 will commence between Halley Lane and Harper Station Road. Ohio 28 will be closed for the duration of the project; traffic will be detoured via U.S. 50 to Ohio 41.

U.S. 23 Resurfacing: The resurfacing project on U.S. 23 between Ohio 207 and the Pickaway County line is set to begin. At least one lane of U.S. 23 will be maintained during this construction.
