Mr. Sarma has also advocated the use of social media to reach out to people, especially the younger generation, to help in creating awareness on road safety and to ensure safe driving practices. The initiative adopted by the Chief Minister draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, successfully fought against female foeticide through his Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.
Chairing the meeting on road safety, Mr. Sarma underscored the need for an integrated effort involving all stakeholders, including the police, the drivers, and the public to ensure road safety, stating that it was everyone’s responsibility towards ensuring safe roads.
