Tragedy Strikes: Amish Children Lose Their Lives in Horrific Crash
In a devastating incident, two young Amish children lost their lives when a pickup truck collided with the back of the buggy they were traveling in Jefferson County. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:18 p.m. on County Route 2. The local authorities were swiftly alerted and arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 26-year-old Charlene Kring from Lafargeville, was headed southwest when she unexpectedly crashed into the buggy, which was also traveling in the same direction. The impact of the collision caused serious injuries to the six occupants of the buggy, which included four children and two adults. The responding officer immediately provided medical attention to one of the children, a one-year-old who was severely injured. Tragically, despite the best efforts of the emergency medical crews, the one-year-old succumbed to their injuries. Subsequently, a three-year-old child passed away at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
The two adults injured in the accident were promptly transported to River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, while the remaining two children were taken to Samaritan Medical Center. Remarkably, Kring, the driver of the pickup truck, emerged from the collision without sustaining any injuries.
