Yemen Targets British Ship in Ongoing Support for Gaza

TEHRAN – Yemen’s Armed Forces announced the targeting of a British vessel, expressing continued solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and condemning American-British aggression.

The naval forces in the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted a British commercial ship in the Red Sea that was headed to the ports of occupied Palestine with appropriate naval missiles, declared the forces on Thursday.

These operations against Israeli vessels or those bound for the occupied Palestinian territories’ ports have become routine for the Yemeni forces in response to the Israeli regime’s war and siege. Since October 7, 2023, nearly 27,000 Palestinians, primarily women, children, and adolescents, have been killed.

The United States and the UK have retaliated with multiple missile attacks against Yemeni targets in response to these operations.

The Yemeni forces emphasized that the strike on the British ship was also executed as part of the response to the American-British aggression against their country.

They declared their commitment to ongoing operations until the cessation of aggression and the lifting of the siege on the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday, Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, dismissed claims by American and British officials alleging that Yemeni operations had endangered maritime navigation.

Passage of 4,874 ships through the Red Sea without any objection confirms that American and British claims are false, he asserted.

The US’s problems stem from its desire to maintain hegemony over the region, he added, noting that Washington was seeking to contain any reaction against the genocidal crimes they (the Israelis) are committing in Gaza.

The targeting of the British ship by Yemeni forces reflects their ongoing support for Palestinians in Gaza and their condemnation of American-British aggression. The navy of the Yemeni Armed Forces used naval missiles to attack the British vessel as it was en route to the ports of occupied Palestine. These operations have become routine for the Yemeni forces in response to the Israeli regime’s war and siege, which have resulted in the deaths of nearly 27,000 Palestinians, primarily women, children, and adolescents. In retaliation, the United States and the UK have launched multiple missile attacks against Yemeni targets.

The Yemeni forces justified their strike on the British ship as a response to the American-British aggression against their country. They have expressed their commitment to continue these operations until the Israeli war of aggression ends and the Gaza Strip’s siege is lifted.

Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, dismissed claims made by American and British officials about the Yemeni operations endangering maritime navigation. He pointed out that thousands of ships have safely passed through the Red Sea without objection, which contradicts the claims made by the US and UK. Al-Houthi criticized the US’s desire for regional hegemony and accused Washington of trying to suppress any reaction against the genocidal crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.

The targeting of the British ship underscores Yemen’s unwavering support for Palestinians in Gaza and its condemnation of American-British aggression. The ongoing conflict continues to claim innocent lives, and Yemen remains determined to fight against the Israeli war and demand the lifting of the siege on Gaza.
