White County Man Missing Since July, Community Joins Search Efforts
A widespread search operation is underway for a 36-year-old man from White County, Douglas Cordell Barnes, who has been missing since July. Barnes was last seen at his home on July 19, and two days later, authorities discovered his gold Ford 150 stuck in mud near Providence Church Road and Knox Bridge Crossing in Hart County.
Since the discovery of his abandoned vehicle, Hart County deputies have been tirelessly searching for any trace of Barnes. They have been going door-to-door, exploring different areas, and pursuing numerous leads in their efforts to locate him. The community has also rallied together, joining the search efforts and showing solidarity in finding Barnes.
On Saturday morning, search crews gathered at the Georgia State Patrol’s command center on Knox Road in Lavonia. The community volunteers, along with assistance from a helicopter provided by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, are dedicated to scouring the surrounding area in hopes of locating any clues or information about Barnes’s whereabouts.
Described as 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, Barnes was last seen wearing jeans and a T-shirt. He typically sports a camouflage hat, according to the sheriff’s office. His family, deeply concerned for his well-being, emphasizes that it is uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch or go missing.
