First Lady Jill Biden Not Yelled at by Middle School Student During Visit
In a recent visit to Eliot-Hine Middle School, First Lady Jill Biden was falsely claimed to have been yelled at by a middle school student. A viral video circulated on social media showing the First Lady addressing the class when a child appeared to shout an expletive at her. However, after investigation, it was revealed that the audio had been manipulated and taken from an unrelated video.
The video garnered over 3 million views and caused controversy online. Despite the visual portion being genuine, the voice of the child yelling was digitally added to the clip. The audio was sourced from a separate video involving a boy and a teacher, as confirmed by BBC Verify journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh. Therefore, there was no instance of a student shouting at Jill Biden during her visit.
During the visit, President Joe Biden and the First Lady greeted the students in the school’s eighth-grade math class, which was attended by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the school’s chancellor. President Biden, who is married to a teacher, expressed his connection with the students and emphasized the importance of education.
As an English and writing professor at Northern Virginia Community College, Jill Biden shared her excitement for the upcoming school year with the students. She explained that teachers, regardless of their experience, often have trouble sleeping the night before the school year starts because of their enthusiasm for their students.
Eliot-Hine Middle School, which was built in 1931, is dedicated to supporting low-income students through federal funding. The school provides opportunities for these students to thrive academically.
It is crucial to clarify misunderstandings and false information, especially when they involve public figures. In this case, the viral video claiming that Jill Biden was yelled at by a student has been debunked. The video’s manipulated audio may have caused unnecessary controversy. The visit to Eliot-Hine Middle School was intended to encourage and support students as they embark on a new academic year.
