RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin assured on Tuesday that the United States would not allow Ukraine to fail, emphasizing ongoing support for Kyiv despite aid delays and shortages faced by Ukrainian forces.

The US$60 billion assistance stalled in Congress, as the Republican-led House of Representatives blocked funding, leading to warnings that the recent US$300 million aid package may only sustain Ukraine for a short period.

At a meeting in Germany with Ukraine’s international backers, Austin reaffirmed the US commitment to bolstering Kyiv’s defenses, stating, The United States will not let Ukraine fail.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the urgency of expediting congressional decisions related to aid, underscoring the critical nature of ongoing support for Ukraine.

General Charles CQ Brown highlighted the challenges faced by Ukrainian troops in managing supplies and execution while navigating the current situation.

Despite the obstacles, Washington recently allocated US$300 million in aid, sourced from unexpected contract savings, to assist Ukraine in resisting aggression from the Kremlin.

As efforts to secure further assistance for Ukraine continue, it remains imperative for stakeholders to address Kyiv’s pressing needs and ensure sustained support to counter external threats.
