Three people, including a child, have tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle collision on B.C.’s Sea to Sky Highway. The incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday near Daisy Lake Dam, south of Whistler, according to authorities. The vehicle was traveling north on the highway with four occupants on board. Unfortunately, three of them, two adults and the child, were pronounced dead at the scene. The fourth occupant, an adult woman, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and is currently in stable condition.

The crash prompted an immediate response from BC Emergency Health Services, which dispatched seven ambulances to the scene. The investigation was conducted by the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, revealing that the crash is not believed to be criminal in nature. As a result, traffic on the affected stretch of the highway was reduced to a single lane until 11 a.m. Sunday.

Insp. Robert Dykstra, Officer in Charge of the Sea to Sky RCMP, expressed heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating incident. He also thanked all the paramedics, officers, and investigators from the responding agencies for their life-saving efforts.

Although the cause of the collision remains unknown at this stage, Dykstra took the opportunity to remind drivers to exercise extra caution and attentiveness, particularly with winter weather conditions on the horizon. He emphasized the importance of planning ahead, slowing down, adapting to conditions, and staying attentive while driving through the Sea to Sky corridor.

Tragically, this incident serves as a reminder of the inherent dangers on the road, urging everyone to prioritize safety and make responsible decisions to prevent further loss of life.
