Thousands of residents in Northeast Ohio are still without power as the region begins its recovery from a series of powerful storms that struck late last week. According to FirstEnergy, around 30,000 customers are still experiencing power outages, even more than two days after the storms hit. However, there has been steady progress in restoring power to affected areas.

One of the hardest-hit counties is Cuyahoga, which accounts for almost half of the remaining outages. As of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, there were 12,089 customers without power in Cuyahoga County, down from 19,000 the day before. Similarly, Summit County has seen a significant improvement, with just over 1,700 affected customers, around 3,000 fewer than on Saturday.

Lake County is still grappling with outages, with approximately 7,000 customers still without power. However, over 5,000 people have had their power restored since Saturday. In Geauga County, the number of outages has decreased from 6,300 to just over 4,000.

On the other hand, Lorain County has experienced a drastic reduction in outages, with fewer than 100 cases compared to over 900 the previous day. Meanwhile, Portage County has seen a decrease from 8,900 to over 5,100. Medina County has the lowest number of outages at less than 5.

FirstEnergy has projected that the majority of affected customers will have their power restored by Wednesday. The company is working tirelessly to resolve the outages and ensure the safety and comfort of residents in the region.

The storms that swept through Northeast Ohio on Thursday and Friday caused extensive damage to power lines and infrastructure. Many households have been left without electricity for days, disrupting daily life and posing challenges for vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly or those with medical needs.

Local authorities are urging residents to stay patient and take necessary precautions while power is being restored. They advise residents to check on their neighbors, especially those who may require assistance. In the wake of the storms, communities have come together to support one another, offering shelter, water, and other essentials to those affected by the outages.

As the recovery efforts continue, it is important for residents and authorities to remain vigilant and prioritize safety. Utility companies are working diligently to restore power as quickly as possible, and the community’s resilience and spirit of unity will undoubtedly contribute to a successful recovery from this natural disaster.
