Thai authorities are conducting inspections to crack down on fireworks violations in preparation for the upcoming Phuket Vegetarian Festival. The checks were initiated after a deadly blast at a fireworks warehouse in Narathiwat, which resulted in 12 fatalities and 121 injuries. Led by Muang District Chief Phairot Srilamul, the inspections involve examining warehouses and vendors of fireworks and firecrackers.

District Deputy Chief Thitichai Siemlek and personnel from the Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor) joined Chief Phairot Srilamul in the inspections. The officials are verifying the operators’ licenses to store and sell fireworks, as well as examining the type, size, and storage methods employed by the operators.

The primary aim of these inspections is to crack down on any violations of the law and ensure safety measures are in place to support the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. This year, the festival is scheduled to be held from October 15 to 24. The report confirms that there are currently 47 operators who possess licenses to store or sell fireworks.

During the inspections, officials assessed 56 boxes of fireworks. These boxes include four boxes of 500 units, 29 boxes of 1,000 units, seven boxes of 5,000 units, and 16 boxes of 10,000 units. While no infractions were detected during the inspections, operators were still reminded about the importance of complying with the law and adhering to safety requirements when storing and selling fireworks.

The Thai authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public during the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. By conducting thorough inspections and raising awareness about fireworks regulations, they aim to prevent any potential mishaps. These efforts demonstrate the government’s dedication to upholding the law and protecting the well-being of its citizens and visitors.

As preparations for the Phuket Vegetarian Festival continue, authorities will remain vigilant to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. By enforcing regulations and imposing strict standards, they are working diligently to prevent the occurrence of any unfortunate incidents related to fireworks. Through these proactive measures, the Thai authorities strive to maintain a secure environment during the festival, allowing participants and spectators alike to celebrate and enjoy the festivities without endangering their lives.
