Suspect Identified in Fatal Shooting at Worcester State University

Authorities are searching for Kevin Rodriguez, an 18-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at Worcester State University. The Worcester County District Attorney has identified Rodriguez as the individual sought after for charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder. Any sightings of Rodriguez should be immediately reported to 911, as he is considered armed and dangerous.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 2:30 a.m., when a fight broke out near a parking garage on the university campus. Following the shooting, students were instructed to shelter in place as police investigated the situation.

Tragically, a 19-year-old man lost his life, while a 21-year-old man was injured in the shooting. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but authorities have stated that the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.

Importantly, both the victims and the suspects involved in the shooting are not affiliated with Worcester State University. Nonetheless, as a precautionary measure, all weekend activities at the university, including homecoming and family weekend, have been canceled. The university is also offering counseling services to students who may require support during this difficult time.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s office is diligently working alongside local law enforcement to apprehend Kevin Rodriguez and bring him to justice. The search for the suspect highlights the gravity of the situation, and authorities are urging the public to exercise caution.

The community is urged to provide any information or leads that could aid in the resolution of this case. It is essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone as the investigation unfolds.

As the Worcester State University campus mourns this tragic incident, our thoughts go out to the victims and their loved ones. The university community and law enforcement are working together to support and protect the students and staff during this challenging time.
