Students at George Washington University (GWU) recently held a vigil to honor Palestinian martyrs amidst the ongoing conflict in the region. The event was hosted by GWU’s Students for Justice in Palestine, who promoted it on their social media page. The vigil was organized in response to Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel, which has resulted in the loss of many lives.
According to an Instagram post by the organization, the students gathered to express their grief for the dead Hamas terrorists and to show solidarity with the struggle for liberation that they believed these individuals had sacrificed for. The student leaders, most of whom were wearing face coverings, chanted phrases like, We will honor all our martyrs. All our children, sons, and daughters and ‘Israel Israel you will learn. By the millions we’ll return.
When journalists from The Daily Signal attempted to identify the organizers of the vigil, they were met with opposition. The students formed a crowd around the journalists and used their phone flashlights to prevent them from continuing to film.
GWU Students for Justice in Palestine issued a statement following Hamas’ attack, expressing their full support for the liberation of their homeland and their people’s right to resist the long-standing colonization by any means necessary.
The news outlet reached out to both George Washington University and GWU Students for Justice in Palestine for comments but did not receive any response at the time of publication.
