Spain achieved a significant increase in renewable power output in July, generating 11,001 GWh of electricity from clean and renewable sources. This represents an 8.3% year-on-year increase, according to the latest estimates report from Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE).
The share of renewable energy in Spain’s total power production reached 46.2%, slightly higher than the 46% recorded in June. Solar photovoltaic parks played a crucial role in this achievement, breaking historical records in terms of both output and share in the generation mix. These solar power plants produced 4,507 GWh, representing a 32.9% increase compared to the previous year and an 18.9% share of the July mix.
