The Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to probe the murder of gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva is expected to present its findings on Thursday. The SIT, composed of Additional Director General of Police (Technical) Mohit Agarwal, Lucknow’s Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nilabja Choudhury, and Inspector General of Police (Ayodhya range) Praveen Kumar, was formed on the night of June 7, shortly after Jeeva was killed in a Lucknow court room.
The perpetrator was disguised as a lawyer during the attack. The SIT, having already recorded the statements of 10 police personnel, who were responsible for delivering Jeeva from Lucknow district jail to court, and a few other police officers in charge of securing the court, are finalizing their investigation. Additionally, they have recreated the crime scene to figure out the events leading to the shooting.
While compiling all the facts and finalizing their report, SIT head Mohit Agarwal will determine when to submit the report. The shooting of Jeeva in court led to the injury of three more people, including two head constables and an 18-month-old girl.
