A viral video of Siddaramaiah, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar is being shared on social media with misleading claims of celebrating the poll victory with members of the Muslim community. However, Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found that this claim is false. The video is actually from an Iftar party that took place in April 2022.

The video was shared on social media on June 8, 2023, and Facebook user Ramesh Chand Sharma falsely claimed that the CM and Deputy CM were celebrating their election victory while donning new clothes and warned followers of Sanatana Dharma in Karnataka to be wary of Sharia law in the future. However, on closer inspection of the video, it displayed a banner with Daawat-e-Iftar written on it, indicating that it was from an Iftar party.

By conducting a Google search with related keywords, sources found a similar video uploaded on a YouTube channel called Thrilling News India, which confirmed that Siddaramaiah and Zameer Ahmed Khan had thrown an Iftar party at Nalapad Mandap where Siddaramaiah wore the same clothes as seen in the viral video. Videos related to this party were uploaded to the official YouTube channels of Daily Salar, News18 Urdu, and Oneindia Kannada, where the viral clip can be seen.

Furthermore, Vishvas News found a news report on the news website Vartabharathi about Siddaramaiah organising an iftar party, which shared several pictures of the event, and was published on April 15, 2022. The investigation revealed that pictures and videos of this Iftar party were shared on April 15, 2022, on the official Facebook account of BZ Zameer Ahmed with the same information. Siddaramaiah also shared some pictures related to the event on his official Twitter account with a caption that read, It was a pleasure to attend the Iftar party organised on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Happy Ramadan to all of you.

According to local journalist Yasir Khan from Karnataka, the viral video is old and being shared with false claims. Upon scanning the user’s account who shared the video with the false claim, Vishvas News learned that the user is influenced by an ideology, has 450 friends, and is a resident of Rishikesh, according to his profile.

In conclusion, Vishvas News confirmed that the viral video of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar is being shared with misleading claims and that the video is from an Iftar party that took place in April 2022.
