Headline: Surge in Antisemitism Among Professionals Sparks Concern, Prompts Action

In recent months, a shocking rise in acts of antisemitism among professionals has brought the issue to the forefront. Liora Rez, the founder of StopAntisemitism, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating antisemitism, expressed astonishment at the alarming level of hatred displayed by doctors, nurses, and professors. The organization, utilizing social media as a platform, has witnessed an astounding 1,500% increase in antisemitic submissions since the recent invasion of Israel by Hamas terrorists.

StopAntisemitism takes a proactive approach in shedding light on antisemitic behavior. Their strategy involves calling on the public to identify offenders, verifying the accuracy of the information, and subsequently disclosing the names and employers of those involved to urge the community to take action. The consequences for these offenders have been significant, with many individuals losing their jobs as a result of their offensive behavior. Rez emphasizes that while people have the right to express hate, her organization has every right to expose and address it.

The examples of antisemitism uncovered by StopAntisemitism are deeply troubling. One case involves an ICU nurse from Norway, Sam Suleiman, who was fired for posting a photo on social media displaying a Hamas tattoo while on duty at a medical facility. Another instance involves Dr. Majd Aburabia, the medical director of a breast care center in Michigan, who made a concerning reference to the massacre in Israel on Facebook. Both individuals faced severe consequences, including termination from their positions.

The exposure of antisemitism is not confined to the medical field. A surgeon in London, Dr. Manoj Sen, lost his job after posting an anti-Jewish statement in German on Facebook. Additionally, three former Apple employees were dismissed due to their anti-Jewish comments that surfaced on social media.

StopAntisemitism has also drawn attention to the offensive remarks made by Dr. Mika Tosca, a professor of climate science at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her denouncement of the entire Jewish state on Instagram caused public outrage and calls for disciplinary action.

While StopAntisemitism’s efforts have garnered widespread support, critics argue that the organization employs harassment as a tool to silence people. Edward Ahmed Mitchell, deputy director for CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), claims that StopAntisemitism targets individuals who sympathize with Palestinians and asserts that the organization is anti-Muslim. Mitchell believes the group primarily aims to shield the Israeli government from legitimate criticism.

It is important to note that Muslims have also experienced an increase in incidents of bigotry since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has received over 1,200 bias complaints in the last month alone, exposing the ongoing tensions and conflicts in the region.

With the war in Israel and Gaza continuing to escalate, claiming a reported death toll of over 11,000 in Gaza alone, organizations like StopAntisemitism play a crucial role in exposing and addressing acts of hatred and discrimination. Their efforts contribute to the urgent need for communities to unite against antisemitism and work towards fostering understanding and respect among all individuals, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
