Security Guard Dismissed for Singing at Taylor Swift Concert

A security guard who became an internet sensation after singing along to Taylor Swift’s hit song Cruel Summer at a concert in Minneapolis claims that his spontaneous moment of joy cost him his job. Calvin Denker shared a video on TikTok explaining that his employer, BEST Crowd Management, terminated his employment due to a company rule against taking photos with performers. Denker stated that he handed out pieces of paper to fellow concertgoers, requesting them to forward any photos that captured him with Swift in the background. While the security company has not yet responded to requests for comment, Denker expressed frustration with their decision, emphasizing that he prioritized the safety of Swift and ensured that all fans had a good time.

Denker revealed that he inquired about the possibility of deleting the photos in question, but received no clear response as the HR representative he contacted had gone on vacation. Nonetheless, he continued working at subsequent events, including an Ed Sheeran show, where he followed the instructions of his bosses and refrained from taking any videos. However, Denker claimed that during the Sheeran concert, a manager relocated him to a different spot shortly before the show began. After completing his shift, Denker found that the HR representative who had ignored his inquiries expressed dissatisfaction with his continued employment, resulting in his ultimate dismissal.

Despite the outcome, Denker concluded his TikTok video by urging Swift fans not to direct their anger towards BEST Crowd Management. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work at two great shows and emphasized that he bears no grudges.

In summary, a security guard’s enthusiasm while singing along to a Taylor Swift song during a concert cost him his job. While the security company has not provided an official statement, the guard claims that he was dismissed for violating the company’s policy against taking photos with performers. The guard maintains that his focus was on ensuring Swift’s safety and creating a positive fan experience. Although he continued to work at subsequent events, he was ultimately let go due to alleged dissatisfaction from the HR representative. The guard requests that fans refrain from blaming the security company, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to work at memorable concerts.
