Saudi Arabia and Egypt Issue Condemnation of Al-Aqsa Mosque Storming

Saudi Arabia and Egypt have jointly condemned the recent storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish extremists, denouncing it as a provocative act. The two nations issued separate statements expressing their strong disapproval of the incident which took place at one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced its condemnation of the continuous provocative practices carried out by a group of extremists at Al-Aqsa Mosque, alluding to their protection by Israeli occupation forces. The Kingdom expressed regret over the actions of the Israeli authorities, which undermine peace efforts and disregard international principles and norms regarding the respect of religious sanctities.

Reiterating its unwavering stance, Saudi Arabia stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and supports all endeavors aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue. The Kingdom affirms the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Egypt also voiced its condemnation of the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in a separate statement. It denounced the actions of Jewish extremists who entered the mosque’s courtyards under the protection of Israeli occupation police. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry deemed this incident as another escalation that provokes the sentiments of millions of Muslims worldwide and risks fueling violence in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The statement went on to call upon Israeli occupation authorities to fulfill their obligations as the occupying power and cease such escalatory practices that violate the legal and historical status of Jerusalem and its esteemed sanctuaries. It emphasized the importance of respecting the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif in their entirety, as a Muslim worship endowment spanning 144 dunams.

Egypt reiterated its call for influential international parties to shoulder their responsibilities in protecting the holy sites of the Palestinian people and defending their legitimate rights. This includes their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.

The condemnation from Saudi Arabia and Egypt highlights the international concern over the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the need to safeguard religious sanctities. The incidents further exacerbate tensions in an already volatile region, heightening the urgency to find a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With global attention focused on this issue, the hope remains that peace will prevail, allowing all parties involved to coexist in harmony and respect.
