Rev Up Your Ride with Dr. Seuss: Specialty License Plates Coming to Springfield Museums

Springfield Museums are excited to announce that they are inching closer to their goal of having Dr. Seuss specialty license plates on the road. With just 91 orders left to reach the 750-order minimum required by the Registry of Motor Vehicles, the production of these one-of-a-kind plates is within grasp. The campaign, launched in 2019, aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Seuss while generating revenue to support the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum in downtown Springfield.

Featuring the iconic Cat in the Hat, the specialty license plates serve as a whimsical tribute to the beloved children’s author, Ted Geisel, who was born and raised in Springfield. Not only do these plates showcase the joy and inspiration that Dr. Seuss’s stories bring, but they also contribute to the funding of the Dr. Seuss Museum. Available for $40 in addition to standard vehicle-registration fees, a portion of each purchase goes directly to supporting the museum’s operations.

State Representative Carlos Gonzalez expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, Who doesn’t smile when they see the Cat in the Hat? This iconic plate would not only celebrate Dr. Seuss’s literary contributions but also remind us of the joy, imagination, and inspiration he continues to bring to generations. Let’s proudly display this plate on our vehicles, spreading the magic of Dr. Seuss’s world wherever we go.

State Senator Adam Gomez echoed Gonzalez’s sentiments, emphasizing the license plates as a visible tribute to Dr. Seuss’s genius and a reminder of his roots in Springfield. Gomez added, Millions of people have found true joy in reading and learning, thanks to Dr. Seuss. These license plates are a wonderful and very visible tribute to his genius – and a reminder of his roots right here in Springfield.

Once the minimum requirement of 750 orders is met, the Springfield Museums will promptly contact those who have already placed their orders, expressing gratitude for their patience and providing information on the next steps towards getting the plates on the road. For inquiries regarding the Dr. Seuss license-plate campaign, individuals are encouraged to contact Emilie Czupryna, Director of Development at the Springfield Museums, at (413) 314-6458 or [email protected]

As the Springfield Museums approach the coveted milestone of 750 pre-orders, Dr. Seuss fans and supporters eagerly anticipate adorning their vehicles with these unique and charming license plates. Celebrating the legacy of the master storyteller himself, the plates serve as a joyful symbol of the power of learning and imagination. To join in on this celebration and secure your very own Dr. Seuss specialty license plate, visit springfieldmuseums.org/seuss-plate and place your order today. Your contribution will not only rev up your ride but also support the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum and preserve the magic of Dr. Seuss for generations to come.
