Record-Breaking Heatwave in Denver: Highs of 99°F, Storms Expected Later
Denver experienced an unprecedented heatwave as temperatures soared to a scorching 99°F on Monday, shattering the previous record of 97°F. The searing temperatures persisted, with forecasts predicting another day of extreme heat, with highs once again reaching the upper 90s across the Denver metro area. Today’s record high stands at 98°F, and it appears that we will come remarkably close to that once more.
While Colorado is not anticipating much thunderstorm activity until Wednesday, a few isolated storms are expected over the mountains. The relentless heatwave will persist until mid-week, followed by an anticipated increase in moisture and cloud cover towards the end of the week.
By Thursday and Friday, there is a higher likelihood of storms and showers, and a gradual relief from the blistering temperatures. Expect temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s on Thursday, with highs dropping to the low 80s on Friday.
Saturday is poised to be the coolest and wettest day of the week, as showers and thunderstorms are likely to make an appearance. Denver can anticipate temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s, while the northern mountains will experience temperatures ranging from the 60s to low 70s.
