Cougar Sightings in Bend, Oregon Raise Concerns among Residents

The Bend Police received a report this morning, August 17th, about a cougar sighting in the 1500 block of NW Remarkable Drive. Despite conducting a thorough search, the community service officers were unable to locate the cougar. The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife has been informed about the sighting, and residents are advised to keep their small animals secure and on a leash.

This sighting marks the second report of a cougar in the vicinity. Last Saturday, August 12th, Bend Police responded to a call regarding a cougar sighting in the 2500 block of NW O’Brien Court. The caller shared a video showing a young cougar in her yard before it ran off towards the southwest. Officers searched the surrounding area, including Central Oregon Community College, but were unable to find the animal. Bend Police have shared information about the sighting with the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Oregon State Police.
