Punjab Police has successfully dismantled an inter-state arms smuggling network operating in Madhya Pradesh, arresting two individuals involved in the illegal manufacturing and supply of weapons. The accused arms suppliers, Harpal Singh and Kishore Singh Rathore, were apprehended in Madhya Pradesh by the Counter Intelligence Jalandhar team.
During the arrest, the police confiscated a cache of 17 pistols and 35 magazines of .32 bore. Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, stated that the recovered weapons were intended to be supplied to criminal gangs associated with Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Ravi Balachauria.
The breakthrough came after the Counter Intelligence unit apprehended Lovedeep alias Love and seized one pistol along with two cartridges from his possession on Maqsudan-Bidhipur Road in Jalandhar. A case was registered against the accused under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the SSOC Amritsar police station.
Investigations into the case revealed that the recovered weapon was part of an inter-state consignment supplied by suspected weapon manufacturers and suppliers based in Khargone and Bharwani districts of Madhya Pradesh. Acting on this information, a team from CI Jalandhar traveled to Madhya Pradesh and successfully apprehended the two accused arms suppliers.
AIG Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, Navjot Singh Mahal, disclosed that the operation is ongoing, and further recoveries of arms and ammunition are highly likely.
