Pope Francis is set to leave the hospital on Friday, according to Vatican spokesman, Matteo Bruni. The 86-year-old pontiff has been undergoing recovery and healing following a successful surgery on June 7 to repair an incisional hernia. Bruni noted that the pope has been making normal progress in his recovery and paid a visit to the pediatric oncology ward in the hospital to offer his support to children suffering from cancer. Pope Francis has also met with several guests during his stay, including the hospital’s chaplain, surgical team, nurses, healthcare workers and the hospital’s director general. To allow for his continued recovery, the Vatican has postponed both public and private audiences until June 18.
