A tragic incident occurred near Irondale, Alabama, resulting in the death of a Pell City man. According to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the body of James B. Myers II, 26 years old, was discovered on Sunday following a fatal crash the previous evening.
The incident took place on Saturday, September 9, at approximately 7:12 p.m. Myers was driving a 2014 Toyota Tacoma when the vehicle veered off the road and flipped over. Tragically, Myers was not wearing a seat belt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle. The Tacoma went into the nearby woods, making it difficult to locate until the following day. Myers was pronounced deceased at the scene once he was found.
Authorities have indicated that the crash occurred on Interstate 459 near Interstate 20, about one mile east of Irondale in Jefferson County. However, further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have not been released as the investigation by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is ongoing.
