Ondo State House of Assembly Challenges Deputy Governor to Respond to Impeachment Allegations
The Ondo State House of Assembly has called upon Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to address the allegations presented in the impeachment notice served on him rather than diverting attention with unrelated matters. The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Oshati Olatunji, emphasized this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Olatunji dismissed Aiyedatiwa’s insinuations and asserted that the Deputy Governor was not being truthful. He clarified that the House intends to investigate the allegations raised against Aiyedatiwa, avoiding an emotional response and instead focusing on a thorough examination.
We have said it on several fora that we are not witch-hunting. We are just doing our job, and our job is to investigate, and by the time we finish the investigation, the whole world will see, Olatunji stated.
The allegations against Aiyedatiwa reportedly include misconduct and misappropriation. Olatunji explained that the House had received a petition containing these allegations and it is now incumbent upon the Deputy Governor to defend himself against them.
Furthermore, one of the allegations accuses Aiyedatiwa of scheming to divide the executive branch while the Governor was away and planning the Governor’s impeachment. This specific claim also requires Aiyedatiwa’s response for clarification.
In light of the seriousness of these allegations, the House has extended an invitation to Aiyedatiwa to appear before them within the next seven days to present his defense.
It is crucial to maintain a balanced view and consider different perspectives in this matter. The House of Assembly has made it clear that they are following due process and conducting an impartial investigation. Aiyedatiwa will have an opportunity to address the allegations and provide his side of the story.
As the Deputy Governor prepares to respond to the impeachment notice, it remains to be seen how this situation will unfold. The House of Assembly’s commitment to a fair and thorough investigation will pave the way for a transparent and just resolution.
