NGO Empowers 2,000 Widows, Orphans, and PWDs Across 27 Nigerian States

The Royal Ambassadors Charity Home, an NGO dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable groups, has announced its empowerment of over 2,000 widows, orphans, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and destitute children across 27 states in Nigeria. This significant achievement was highlighted by the Executive Director of the NGO, Amb. David Jonathan, during the inauguration of the Enugu State Chapter’s executive working team.

Amb. David Jonathan emphasized that the organization’s primary goal is to assist not only widows, orphans, PWDs, and destitute children but also the poor and individuals with special needs. He commended the efforts of the NGO’s members, philanthropists, and public-spirited donors, who have made a tremendous impact on the lives of Nigerians.

Established 12 years ago, the Royal Ambassadors Charity Home envisions creating not only assistance programs but also homes to shelter the individuals it supports. The NGO’s reach has expanded to all regions of Nigeria and 34 countries worldwide, where its members provide voluntary humanitarian services and direct assistance.

Amb. David Jonathan acknowledged the challenges faced by widows in Nigeria, including neglect, victimization, intimidation, and humiliation due to societal and cultural biases. Furthermore, when a widow does not have a male child, the relatives of her late husband often attempt to claim her late husband’s assets.

To address these issues, Royal Ambassadors Charity Home has initiated advocacy campaigns and engaged with human rights activists to protect the fundamental rights, welfare, and security of widows. While legislation exists to protect the rights of PWDs and children, there is currently no specific law in Nigeria safeguarding the rights of widows.

In addition to its focus on empowering widows and vulnerable groups, the NGO encourages residents of Enugu State to collaborate with security agencies in maintaining the security of their neighborhoods. Amb. David Jonathan stressed that security is everyone’s responsibility and urged individuals to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security station.

For the newly inaugurated executives of the Enugu State Chapter, Amb. David Jonathan emphasized their role in serving humanity and making a positive impact on society. He encouraged them to work towards ensuring that people in the community benefit from the organization’s initiatives.

The coordinator of Royal Ambassador Charity Home, Enugu State Chapter, Dr. Amaka Ezekwonna, expressed appreciation for the commitment and dedication exhibited by members in serving widows, orphans, PWDs, destitute children, the poor, and individuals with special needs in Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.

The story of Mr. Levi Nnamani, a physically challenged person who has received assistance from the NGO, epitomizes the impact made by the Royal Ambassadors Charity Home. He expressed his gratitude, stating his belief that God will continue to bless the organization for its unprecedented assistance to physically challenged individuals.

The work of the Royal Ambassadors Charity Home serves as an inspiration, providing support, empowerment, and hope to widows, orphans, PWDs, and destitute children across Nigeria. Through their tireless efforts, this NGO strives to create a society that values and protects the rights and well-being of all its members, regardless of their circumstances.
