Last year, Morant took friends and family members on a private jet trip to Cleveland for the All-Star weekend. He streamed part of the journey on Instagram Live, during which he was seen drinking from a bottle of tequila multiple times. Although initially seen as a fun experience, sources have revealed that this was just one of many habitual warning signs.
Morant’s troubles escalated after a game against the Nuggets in early March. He went to a nightclub in Glendale, Colo., and while live-streaming on Instagram, he was seen holding a gun. Only two months later, Morant once again appeared to be holding a gun in an Instagram Live video, this time while sitting in a car next to his close friend, Davonte Pack. In June, the NBA announced a 25-game suspension for Morant. The situation reached a concerning point in late May when he deleted all his Instagram posts and shared a goodbye note, along with photos of his family. Local police conducted a welfare check on Morant and confirmed he was fine but taking a break from social media.
Despite these troubling incidents, Morant has been striving to change his image. His close friend and photographer/videographer, Jnie Williams, has been sharing videos on Instagram featuring words like gratitude and accountability.
