Mobile Film Festival Africa announces 2023 winners in Rabat

The winners of the Mobile Film Festival Africa 2023 were announced at a prize ceremony held in Rabat on 8 June, as part of the city’s African Capital of Culture programme celebrations. A total of 54 films from 21 African countries were featured in the festival’s official selection, with $51,000 in production grants given to the winners. Winners included Sunday Mapya from Tanzania for his film I Have a Dream Too which received the Grand Prize Africa, and Kamal Lougleb from Morocco for his film The Guardian of the Walls which received the Grand Prize Morocco. Other prizes also included the French Speaking Film Award and the ACP – EU Culture Award. The festival aims to support and mentor upcoming filmmakers from around the world, offering technical support and grants to help the winners shoot a professional short film.
