MMK President Apologizes for Offensive Caricature in Manipur Viral Video Protest
Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) President MH Jawahirullah has issued an apology for the use of an offensive caricature during a protest against the Manipur viral video incident in Dindigul district. He stated that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against those responsible for the act.
Jawahirullah mentioned that senior members of the party promptly removed the advertising board displaying the offensive caricature once they were made aware of its presence. He emphasized that the Manithaneya Makkal Party does not tolerate any actions that hurt religious sentiments. The individuals responsible for putting up the inappropriate advertising board have faced severe reprimand, and the party has taken disciplinary action against them. Jawahirullah sincerely apologized to anyone whose feelings may have been hurt by the advertisement.
In response to the offensive hoarding, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticized the MMK Chief for associating with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. Bhatia argued that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.), of which the Congress is a member, should not disrespect the religious sentiments of the people.
Bhatia expressed his deep disappointment and vowed to take legal action against those responsible for the derogatory posters. He questioned the silence of I.N.D.I.A leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and Mamata Banerjee, regarding the matter.
The viral video from Manipur showed two women allegedly being paraded naked, igniting a heated debate between the Centre and the Opposition. This controversy led to repeated disruptions and adjournments in Parliament.
