Michigan Football to Host Top Recruits, Including Elite DB and QB, at Recruiting BBQ
Michigan football is gearing up for the future as they begin to shift their focus towards the 2025 recruiting class. With a strong 2024 class already in place, the Wolverines are now eyeing some elite targets for the upcoming season. Among the notable prospects expected to take part in the recruiting BBQ is Zaquan Patterson, a highly-regarded defensive back from Miami.
Patterson, a top-100 recruit in the nation, won’t be the only South Florida defensive back visiting the Wolverines. Chris Ewald, a 2025 commitment for Michigan, will also be in attendance. Additionally, five-star defensive back DJ Pickett, ranked No. 8 overall in the 2025 class, will make a visit. Pickett has already shown his interest in Michigan football by visiting the campus three times, including two trips this year alone. EJ Holland of The Wolverine reported that Pickett will visit again after the dead period, indicating serious consideration of the Wolverines.
While Pickett may not be attending the recruiting BBQ, Michigan football will host him that same weekend, giving them an opportunity to further strengthen their relationship with the talented safety. Competition for Pickett’s commitment is fierce, with schools like Florida, Georgia, Florida State, and Alabama vying for his signature. However, the Wolverines seem to be a strong contender, especially given his upcoming unofficial visit.
In addition to Pickett, four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery will also be attending Michigan football’s recruiting BBQ. Ranked No. 208 overall in the On3 industry rankings for the 2025 class, Montgomery hails from Findlay, Ohio. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, Montgomery is considered one of the top quarterbacks in his class. He has been a regular visitor to the Wolverines’ campus and this visit will be his 10th overall, and his fourth this spring alone.
Michigan football faces stiff competition from Ohio State for Montgomery’s commitment. However, with Ohio State already securing a 2025 quarterback pledge, the Wolverines have a strong chance of winning over Montgomery. Although Bryce Underwood remains their top target, his decision is not imminent. While the On3 prediction machine favors Michigan for Montgomery, it is unlikely they will make any significant moves at the quarterback position until Underwood’s recruitment is resolved.
Michigan football’s hosting of these top targets demonstrates their commitment to securing the best talent for their program. By bringing in elite defensive back DJ Pickett and high-profile quarterback Ryan Montgomery for visits, the Wolverines are positioning themselves as serious contenders in the highly competitive world of college football recruiting. As they look towards the future, Michigan football is determined to build on their recent recruiting success and further solidify their status as a top program in the nation.
