Margulies Perruzzi, a leading architectural and interior design firm in New England, has completed the first phase of a new headquarters for Boston Scores in East Boston. This project is a collaboration between Boston Scores and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, aiming to expand youth programs in the area. The second phase of the project, which includes the construction of additional buildings and soccer fields, will be completed in the spring of 2024.

Boston Scores is a non-profit organization that partners with Boston Public Schools to provide after-school soccer and enrichment programs for urban youth in grades K-12. The organization plans to enhance its programs by offering new community-based initiatives and expanding coach training opportunities. The renovated headquarters will enable Boston Scores to double the number of youths served while improving the quality of its services.

Margulies Perruzzi was responsible for the design services of the renovations, which involved transforming an existing 39,320 square foot building into a shared space for Boston Scores and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club. The third floor was allocated to Boston Scores and features open office spaces, private offices for staff, a dedicated area for youth programs, and a large conference room for coach training. Additionally, an elevator was installed to provide accessibility to all three floors of the building.

The renovations also include site work, such as updating the parking lot, increasing stormwater capacity, and constructing a new soccer mini-pitch. The mini-pitch, funded by various donations, will provide a space for pick-up games, skills development, and informal play.

The next phase of the project will involve the construction of a multi-field soccer complex, a playground, a community garden, an outdoor classroom, shaded sitting areas, a field house, renovated classrooms, meeting spaces, and additional parking.

The completion of Phase 1 marks an important milestone for Boston Scores and its commitment to empowering K-12 youth. The redesigned headquarters will not only serve as a hub for the organization’s programs but also symbolize their dedication to nurturing the potential of the next generation.

Margulies Perruzzi’s involvement in the project highlights their long-standing support for Boston Scores, evident through their participation in the annual Scores Cup soccer tournament. The firm is excited to have contributed their expertise in creating an inspiring and innovative space for young people to thrive.

The partnership between Margulies Perruzzi, Boston Scores, and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club demonstrates the collective effort to provide valuable opportunities for East Boston’s youth. The completed headquarters and upcoming facilities will serve as a testament to the organizations’ unwavering commitment to fostering the growth of the community’s young individuals.

This transformational project will not only expand the reach of Boston Scores’ programs but also enhance the impact of their mission, preparing young people for success both on and off the soccer field. As the construction progresses, Boston Scores looks forward to the completion of their revitalized headquarters and the continued positive influence it will have on the lives of local youth.
