Title: Man Shot in Face at Surrey Bus Stop: RCMP Seeks Public’s Help Identifying Suspect
Surrey RCMP is seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in a daytime shooting that took place at a bus stop in Surrey. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a man was shot in the face. Although injured, the victim is expected to survive.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the 38-year-old victim accidentally bumped into an unidentified man riding a bicycle at the bus stop located on the 8900 block of 152 Street near Fraser Highway. Following a brief exchange between the two parties, the man on the bike fired a shot at the victim, striking him in the face.
The victim was immediately transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Surrey RCMP’s general investigative unit has taken charge of the investigation and is appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the identification of the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old, with a medium build, dirty blond hair, and a light beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark hoodie and dark board shorts while carrying a purse and a blue bag of empty cans. The suspect was also riding a bike.
To clarify, Surrey RCMP stated that this incident is not related to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia.
This shooting incident follows two other high-profile attacks on buses in Surrey, which occurred four months ago. In the first incident on April 1, a man survived a throat slashing attack on a Surrey bus. Abdul Aziz Kawam has been charged with four terrorism-related charges in connection with the attack, allegedly committed in the name of the Islamic State or ISIS.
Less than two weeks later, on April 11, a 17-year-old named Ethan Bepsflug was fatally stabbed aboard a bus near King George SkyTrain station following an altercation with another passenger. Kaiden Mintenko, aged 20, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with this tragic incident. RCMP has clarified that the recent shooting is unrelated to these previous bus attacks.
Surrey RCMP urges anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect involved in the bus stop shooting to come forward. Tips can be provided to the police anonymously or through various Crime Stoppers channels.
The investigation into this incident continues, and the cooperation of the public is crucial in bringing the suspect to justice. Surrey RCMP reassures the community that they are actively working to ensure the safety of residents and maintain peace in the area.
In light of this incident and the previous bus attacks, concerns regarding public safety and security have been raised. It is essential for law enforcement agencies, community members, and local authorities to collaborate and address these concerns effectively.
The Surrey RCMP will continue to update the public on any developments in the investigation and encourages anyone with information to come forward promptly.
