Eustis Police Seek Identification of Man Who Shot at Car After Driver Honked

Eustis Police in Florida are seeking help from the public in identifying a man who shot at a car after the driver honked at him. The incident took place on a quiet street, prompting concern among local residents.

Following the shooting, the victim drove to the police headquarters to report the incident. Eustis Police were able to retrieve a picture of the shooter using cameras mounted in the car, which led to tips from the community.

In the video captured by the car’s cameras, a group of people can be seen crossing the road in front of the vehicle. As the car approaches, the driver honks the horn. At that moment, a man wearing white is seen holding a gun. As the car passes by, the man raises the firearm and fires a shot, hitting the car’s trunk.

Sherry Shook, a resident in the vicinity, heard the loud noise and initially thought it was a flat tire. She expressed her disbelief and said, It’s kind of disturbing, you know? Scary. Eustis Police Chief Craig Capri echoed the sentiment and emphasized the need to remove the suspect from the streets.

Chief Capri stated, We have a serious problem here, I have someone with a handgun being set off by something as simple as a car horn. He urged anyone who recognizes the shooter or the people with him to come forward and contact Eustis Police. While investigators already have some promising leads, Chief Capri expressed confidence in identifying the suspect soon and filing charges against him.

The police chief highlighted the significance of video evidence in this case. Car cameras, doorbell cameras, surveillance cameras, and similar technology have proven invaluable resources, providing substantial evidence to aid in solving crimes.

Residents and authorities hope that by swiftly identifying the shooter, they can ensure the safety of the community and prevent further incidents that may put innocent lives at risk.
