Man Assaulted in Front of Malaysian Police Headquarters Sparks Investigation
An incident of assault in front of a district police headquarters in Malaysia has sparked an investigation by the authorities. The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, took place on the east coast of the country. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed the incident and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
The 14-second video clip shows a man on a motorcycle, bearing a PAS (Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party) flag on his back, being attacked by several individuals. While the motive behind the assault is still unclear, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Pitchay mentioned that there might have been some provocation leading up to the incident.
The Kelantan police chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, further assured that a thorough investigation into the matter will be conducted, highlighting the importance of integrity and standard compliance. In relation to the incident, the police also detained a vehicle that had been converted into a tank.
Authorities have warned against acts of provocation in the lead-up to the vote-tallying process, urging leaders, contesting candidates, and their respective supporters to maintain peace and restraint. Muhammad Zaki emphasized the importance of advising young people, who are particularly enthusiastic about campaign activities, to avoid causing any provocations.
Turning to the voting process in Kelantan, Muhammad Zaki expressed satisfaction with its smooth progress as of 2 pm. It seems that the polling operation has been proceeding without any major disruptions.
