Magic Kingdom Cast Member Fired After Verbal Altercation Goes Viral
A TikTok video showing a heated altercation between a Magic Kingdom Cast Member and guests has gone viral, resulting in the termination of the employee involved. The Cast Member in question is Korinn Lloyd, who worked at a merchandise glow cart on Main Street, U.S.A.
The video, which has since been deleted or made private, was originally shared by a TikTok user and later reshared by another user, uhlayseeuh. It should be noted that the videos contain profanity.
The video begins with Korinn already frustrated with the guests behind the camera. While helping another guest, Korinn instructs the arguing family to go to another cart. A man off-screen issues a warning, asking Korinn to watch her attitude or he would smash the merchandise on the cart. Undeterred, Korinn tells him to proceed with smashing the products.
Korinn reiterates that the guests should go to a different cart as she doesn’t want to continue dealing with them. However, one woman insists on buying from Korinn’s cart, leading to further unpleasant exchanges. Other guests can be heard telling the arguing family to calm down, leave Korinn alone, and remember that they are in a happy place.
Amidst the arguments, someone mentions the hood, to which Korinn sarcastically responds that she’s real hood due to her origins in New Orleans. She makes it clear that she does not consider herself from the hood and does not believe this incident to be a race issue.
Once she finishes assisting the other family, Korinn quickly leaves the area accompanied by another Cast Member. Before leaving, she shouts, questioning who the guests think they’re playing with and expressing her distress over the situation.
In an attempt to identify the disrespectful Disney employee, the video asks viewers for help. However, the response was largely in support of Korinn.
Korinn later shared her side of the story on her own TikTok account, rinnyyy_3. She explains that the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m., just 15 minutes before Magic Kingdom closed. She had initially been on her way out of the park when she stopped to assist the first family shown in the video. As the second family approached, she agreed to help them once she finished with the first family.
According to Korinn, a young child from the second family began grabbing items from the cart. Korinn politely asked the child to return the items and assured her she would help her soon. Despite the child complying, the family accused Korinn of taking a toy away from the child.
Korinn clarifies that the woman who recorded the video arrived on the scene after the altercation had already begun. The woman started arguing with Korinn, suggesting she needed a better-paying job. In response, Korinn explained that she was participating in the Disney College Program, considering her role as part of her education. This is when the recording began.
Feeling uncomfortable with the situation, Korinn instructed the family to go to another cart for their purchase. She emphasizes that the man from the family threatened to smash everything on her cart, while the woman insisted on buying from it. Korinn saw this as a red flag.
Korinn also mentions that the woman made a comment about taking someone out of the hood but not taking the hood out of them. This led Korinn to mention that she is from New Orleans. She clarifies that she does not consider herself from the hood and does not believe race was a factor in this incident.
In the aftermath, Korinn was suspended and ultimately terminated. During her suspension, she received a call from Disney management instructing her to report for duty the next day at costuming. However, the meeting lasted only 30 seconds, and she was terminated for breaking Disney character, leaving her in tears.
Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Korinn reiterates her love for her job and her commitment to bringing smiles to children and parents at Walt Disney World. She expresses gratitude for the support she has received and requests prayer as she tries to return home to Louisiana within the limited time frame given to her.
As Korinn was part of the College Program, she does not receive assistance from a union.
