Longest-Serving Little Rock City Manager Bruce Moore Passes Away at 57
Little Rock, Arkansas mourns the passing of its longest-serving city manager, Bruce Moore, who died at the age of 57. The city confirmed the news on Saturday, announcing that Moore had peacefully passed away in his own home. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Mayor Frank Scott Jr. expressed his condolences and ordered flags in the city to be flown at half-staff in honor of Moore’s memory. Throughout his two-decade-long tenure as the city’s top administrator, Moore exemplified servant leadership and received numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional management skills and expertise.
Moore’s journey with the city of Little Rock began over 35 years ago when he started as an intern. He then worked his way up, serving as the assistant to both the mayor and the city manager. In 1999, he was appointed as the assistant city manager before ultimately becoming the city manager in 2002. Throughout his time in office, Moore effectively oversaw department heads and worked closely with the Little Rock Board of Directors. He served under three different mayors, leaving an indelible mark on the city’s administration.
Last year, Moore played a pivotal role in shepherding a $161.8 million capital-improvement bond proposal through the city board. The proposal consisted of six project categories, all of which were approved by voters in a citywide referendum. This reauthorization of a long-running millage ensured continued investments in the city’s infrastructure.
Funeral arrangements for Moore are currently pending. He is survived by his son, Luke Thomas Moore, and his fiancee, Siobhan Osborne.
