Headline: Jessica Alba’s ‘Trigger Warning’ Fails to Hit the Mark

In a disappointing turn of events, the latest Netflix movie ‘Trigger Warning’, starring Jessica Alba, falls short of expectations with a lackluster plot and one-dimensional characters. Despite attempting to channel the action-packed vibe of John Wick, the film struggles to deliver on its promises, leaving viewers underwhelmed. With an outlandish premise and a weak script, ‘Trigger Warning’ fails to engage audiences effectively, missing the mark as a gritty action flick.

In response to the lukewarm reception, movie critic Rachel Adams noted, While Jessica Alba gives it her all, ‘Trigger Warning’ ultimately falls flat due to its predictable storyline and lack of depth in character development. This sentiment echoes the sentiments shared by many viewers who had high hopes for the film’s potential.

Another movie enthusiast, Alex Nguyen, expressed disappointment, saying, I was expecting a thrilling action-packed ride, but ‘Trigger Warning’ failed to deliver the excitement I was looking for. The execution of the plot felt rushed, and the characters lacked the depth needed to create a compelling story.

Despite Jessica Alba’s star power, ‘Trigger Warning’ struggles to leave a lasting impression, with viewers finding it difficult to connect with the film on a meaningful level. As a result, the movie is likely to fade into obscurity as just another forgettable attempt at capturing the essence of a gritty action thriller.

Afghanistan Stuns Australia in T20 World Cup Upset

0

Afghanistan came close twice but at the third time of trying, they got their big moment under the dazzling lights of the Aronos Vale Ground in St Vincent by downing World Cup royalty Australia with an outstanding all-round performance. This win for the ages was set up by a third century stand of the tournament between Rahmanullah Gurbaz (61) and Ibrahim Zadran (51), but the biggest flex came from veteran Gulbadin Naib, who returned figures of 4 for 20 in the defence of 148. Among his scalps was that of Glenn Maxwell, who was the only Australian standing between Afghanistan and their biggest win in T20 World Cup history. Afghanistan’s win has blown open Group 1 in the Super 8 phase. They will remain at St Vincent and take on continental rivals Bangladesh in their final Super 8 match on June 24. Australia will head to St Lucia for the blockbuster clash against India in the morning fixture on the same day.

At least 39 killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza; tensions escalate

0

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — At least 39 people were killed by Israeli strikes across northern Gaza on Saturday, as rescue workers scrambled to find survivors beneath the rubble, according to Palestinian and hospital officials.

Fadel Naem, director of the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, told The Associated Press that more than three dozen bodies arrived at the hospital. The Palestinian Civil Defense, an emergency group active in Gaza, said its emergency workers were digging for survivors at the site of a strike in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City and that it had pulled several dozen bodies from a building hit by an Israeli strike in an eastern neighborhood of Gaza City.

Israel said Saturday that its fighter jets struck two Hamas military sites in the Gaza City area but did not elaborate further.

The deaths come a day after at least 25 people were killed in strikes on tent camps and 50 wounded near the southern city of Rafah. Israel said Saturday that it was continuing to operate in central and southern Gaza and has pushed ahead with its invasion of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from fighting elsewhere. Most have now fled the city, but the United Nations says no place in Gaza is safe and humanitarian conditions are dire as families shelter in tents and cramped apartments without adequate food, water or medical supplies.

A separate Israeli strike Saturday in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley killed a member of the military wing of al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, or the Islamic Group, a Sunni Muslim faction closely allied with Hamas, according to the group. The member was the seventh killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon since the war began.

The Israel-Hamas war erupted on Oct. 7. when Hamas militants who stormed southern Israel killed about 1,200 people and took some 250 others hostage. Israel has responded by bombarding and invading the enclave, killing more than 37, 400 Palestinians there according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its count.

Also Saturday, Israel’s army said an Israeli man was fatally shot in the northern West Bank town of Qalqilya, where Israeli forces fatally shot two militants Friday, the latest flare of violence in the territory since the Israel-Hamas war erupted.

At least 549 Palestinians in the territory have been killed by Israeli fire since the war began, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry, which tracks the killings. Over the same period, Palestinians in the West Bank have killed at least nine Israelis, including five soldiers, according to U.N. data.

Israeli nationals are prohibited from entering Qalqilya and other areas of the West Bank that fall under the control of the Palestinian Authority.

In April, the death of a 14-year-old Israeli settler sparked a series of settler attacks on Palestinian towns in the territory. The army said a Palestinian was later arrested in connection with the killing.

On Saturday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said a 12-year-old Palestinian boy died from his wounds after being shot by Israeli forces in Ramallah last week. Commenting on the shooting, the Israeli army said its forces raided al-Amari refugee camp near Ramallah to arrest a suspect Friday and then opened fire on a group of Palestinians who were pelting them with stones.

Israel said Saturday that it was investigating a separate incident into conduct of its soldiers after a video surfaced online showing an injured Palestinian being transported on the hood of an Israeli armored car in the northern West Bank. The army said the man in the video was a wanted suspect and injured during an exchange of fire between Palestinian militants and Israeli forces near the city of Jenin. The man was being transported to a Red Crescent ambulance situated nearby, it said. The army said the conduct in the video didn’t conform to the values of the army.

Anger across the country is growing at the government’s handling of the war in Gaza and the hostage crisis.

On Saturday, tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Tel Aviv calling for new elections and for the government to bring the hostages home. Among the families were the parents of Naama Levy, an Israeli soldier who marked her 20th birthday in captivity.

Russian Asylum Seeker Released Amid Deportation Lawsuit in Trinidad and Tobago

A Russian asylum seeker has been released from custody as he pursues a lawsuit over his proposed deportation. Ali Iakupov was granted leave to pursue his judicial review case after being detained in Trinidad and Tobago. Iakupov and his wife sought political asylum, citing fear of compulsory military enrollment in Russia due to the ongoing war with Ukraine. Despite attempts to extend their stay, they were refused and later arrested for alleged illegal stay and possession of Russian Military Identification Card, designated for military personnel. While his wife left the country, Iakupov remained detained, seeking legal action to challenge his deportation orders. The case is set for hearing in July as he aims to quash the order and secure passport release for travel to a willing host country.

China’s Military Tactics Threaten Taiwan’s Independence: Experts

0

The situation between China and Taiwan is escalating, with concerns rising over potential Chinese control of the democratic island. China’s military could effectively isolate Taiwan, cripple its economy, and potentially force it to submit to Beijing’s Communist Party without firing a single shot. The Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington highlights a unique approach called a quarantine, which involves utilizing tactics just below the threshold of war, such as enforcing a blockade through various maritime agencies. With tensions mounting due to Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s aggressive stance and China’s increased military activities around Taiwan, the threat of conflict looms large. The recent warning from China’s Minister of National Defence, Admiral Dong Jun, serves as a stark reminder of the volatile situation, with Taiwan firmly within China’s sights. The world watches closely as the delicate balance in the region teeters on the edge of potential conflict.

Melbourne Defender Steven May Faces Suspension for Staging Incident, Australia

0

Melbourne defender Steven May has been slammed for his disgraceful behaviour that drew a free kick under the AFL’s dangerous-tackle rule.

May was outstanding in the Demons’ three-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday night, holding Nick Larkey goalless, but came under fire over the third-quarter incident.

Kangaroo Eddie Ford spun May around more than 360 degrees in a tackle before the pair went to ground, with the All-Australian backman landing on his shoulder.

May then pushed his own head into the turf and grabbed it as if he had been hurt.

He was awarded a free kick but is certain to be fined for staging when AFL match review officer Michael Christian hands down his findings on Sunday.

The incident comes amid a league-wide crackdown on head contact, with a huge focus on the effects of concussion in world sport.

Under AFL rules, staging can include, but is not limited to, excessive exaggerating of contact in an unsportsmanlike manner.

It is a reportable offence because it may affect umpires’ decision-making, incite a melee and/or not be in the spirit of the game.

Players can be fined for staging, but former AFL match review panel member Nathan Burke called on the league to take it further by suspending May for his disgraceful actions.

Hopefully Steven May’s not playing next week, Burke said in commentary on ABC radio.

I hope he (gets suspended) … for embellishment. Staging, embellishment – whatever you want to call it.

The umpire paid a dangerous tackle (but) his head did not hit the ground, yet he laid there holding his head.

This game’s hard enough for these umpires, let alone (with) players doing that and making it difficult for them.

So the AFL are going to have to whack him.

Australian Football Hall of Fame member Burke was joined by a host of former players in decrying May’s actions.

It’s one of his more embarrassing moments on the field, Port Adelaide 300-gamer Kane Cornes said on Nine.

His head went nowhere near the ground, and then he’s thrown his head into the ground and grabbed his head to suck in a free kick.

It was poor umpiring to let (the tackle) go on so long, he should have blown his whistle earlier.

I think he can be fined $1800, and absolutely Steven May deserves a fine for that.

The MRO findings will be released on Sunday afternoon.
