Lafayette Teens Arrested for Threatening to Post Explicit Videos of 16-Year-Old: Prosecutor
Two teenagers from Lafayette, Indiana have been arrested and charged with intimidating a 16-year-old girl by threatening to post explicit videos of her on social media. According to prosecutors, Jefferey Crouch, 18, and Glenn Patterson, 18, were involved in the incident.
The allegations state that Crouch had consensual sex with the 16-year-old girl in a parked vehicle in June. The girl was unaware that Crouch’s friend had recorded the encounter until a week later when Crouch demanded money or electronic equipment worth $250 to prevent the video from being posted online.
Prosecutors claim that Crouch enlisted the help of Patterson to intimidate the girl and demand the money. Patterson, who is a prominent running back for Jefferson High School and a candidate for Mr. Football, allegedly used his phone to send threatening text messages to the victim.
Furthermore, Crouch recorded another video of the girl naked in a vehicle, attempting to remove her towel while threatening to abandon her in a remote cornfield where she would supposedly die. The videos were later discovered on social media by the police.
Crouch is facing multiple charges, including three counts of child exploitation, two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of intimidation, and one count of battery. He has been ordered to remain in custody without bond. Patterson, on the other hand, has been charged with conspiracy to commit intimidation, which is a Class A misdemeanor. He has been released on bond.
Additional individuals mentioned in the investigation are yet to have their charges disclosed in public records. It is unclear whether charges are still pending or if they will be filed in the future.
