JPMorgan Chase has agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to women who were sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein. The settlement, which is subject to approval by U.S. District Court Judge Jed Rakoff, follows a lawsuit filed in 2020 by victims who accused the bank of facilitating Epstein’s sex trafficking operation. A joint statement from the parties said they had reached an agreement in principle but did not disclose the specifics of the agreement. JPMorgan Chase said in a statement it regretted any association with Epstein, calling his behavior monstrous. Lawyer David Boies said the settlement was another important step towards vindication, recognition, and compensation for Epstein’s victims.
