Joe Biden’s German Shepherds Raise Concerns as Secret Service Faces Dog Attacks
The behavior of President Joe Biden’s German Shepherds, Major and Commander, has raised concerns within the Secret Service as reports of dog attacks have surfaced. While German Shepherds are not inherently aggressive dogs, their actions have ignited discussions about how they are treated and cared for by their owner.
R.L. Maizes wrote in The New York Times that You can tell a lot about a man by how he treats his dogs. Animal behaviorists have emphasized that dogs can become aggressive if they are abused or neglected. German Shepherds, known for their intelligence and docility, have been trusted as guide dogs for blind individuals for almost a century.
However, recent incidents involving Major and Commander have showcased a different side of these typically gentle canines. Major, the president’s first dog, was sent back to Delaware in 2021 after biting a Secret Service officer. Recently obtained Secret Service documents revealed that Commander, the second dog, also displayed a similar aggressive behavior by biting a security detail member at the president’s Delaware home. Another instance involved Commander lunging and biting a Secret Service officer, fortunately without breaking the skin.
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) document dated October 5, 2022, stated, If it wasn’t their dog, he would have already been put down – freaking clown needs a muzzle. These incidents have left the Secret Service on high alert, as their duty is to protect the president and not face attacks from his dogs.
The question arises: if Biden treats his dogs like this, how does he treat people? Axios reported last month that the president’s quick temper and profanity-laced tirades were well-known. Jeff Connaughton, a former Biden campaign and Senate aide, described him as an egomaniacal autocrat … determined to manage his staff through fear. This has led some to draw conclusions about the president’s treatment of both the people around him and his dogs.
While one dog with aggressive tendencies could be considered an outlier, two dogs displaying similar violent behaviors cannot be simply attributed to their breed. It is widely understood that dogs, regardless of breed, do not become aggressive unless they have been neglected or abused.
Ultimately, how a man treats his dog does say a lot about him. The recent incidents involving Joe Biden’s German Shepherds raise concerns about the animals’ well-being while also shedding light on the president’s temperament and management style. As discussions continue, it is important to consider different perspectives and opinions on the matter, ensuring a balanced view of the topic.
