Jacksonville Public Library to Replace Roof Following Water Damage
The Jacksonville Public Library in Florida is facing an urgent roof replacement after water damage was discovered in the basement. Library Director Christy Wallace reported that water was found in the children’s library, where young adult books are located. JSU Police Chief Michael Barton also obtained permission to close College Street for safety reasons due to increased traffic near the JSU’s new Professional Studies Complex and the Child Development Center. Many people were using the street as a shortcut to other parts of town.
Council members unanimously agreed that the library’s roof required a complete replacement. They have asked city staff to provide detailed estimates that include labor and parts warranties so that action can be taken as soon as possible, possibly during the next council meeting.
