Ivanka Trump Faces Subpoena in Ongoing Civil Fraud Trial Involving Former President

Ivanka Trump is set to testify in an ongoing civil fraud trial, unless she wins an appeal, alongside her brothers and their father, former President Donald Trump. A New York state court judge ruled that Ivanka must respond to a subpoena, stating that she has availed herself of the privilege of doing business in New York, as she still has ties to Trump businesses that are involved in the case.

Although Ivanka Trump was dismissed as a defendant in June due to claims being beyond the statute of limitations, the judge has deemed her testimony necessary. Her lawyers may appeal the decision, but as of now, her testimony is scheduled for November 3. Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, and Donald Trump himself are also expected to take the stand in the coming weeks.

The trial primarily revolves around determining damages for Trump and his family members, who are being sued by New York State Attorney General Letitia James. The judge has already found Donald Trump liable for inflating the value of their assets in order to secure more favorable bank loans.

During a hearing, Trump’s attorney criticized the subpoena issued to Ivanka, claiming that the attorney general simply wants another free-for-all on another of President Trump’s children. However, the attorney general’s office argues that Ivanka remains a significant part of Trump’s business empire.

Donald Trump, who is considering a presidential run in 2024, has consistently denied any wrongdoing, dismissing the trial as politically motivated. The trial has attracted attention due to its implications for the Trump family and the former president’s business practices.

As the trial proceeds, it will be interesting to see how Ivanka Trump’s testimony influences the outcome and whether any further developments impact the case. The court’s ruling reflects the belief that Ivanka’s involvement in the family’s business enterprises warrants her appearance before the court. With the trial gaining attention nationwide, it remains to be seen how the proceedings will unfold and how they could potentially impact the political landscape.
