Israeli Forces Thwart Iranian Plot to Smuggle Explosives into Israel via Jordan
In a remarkable display of vigilance and operational success, Israeli security forces have foiled an attempt to smuggle Iranian-made explosives into Israel from Jordan. Compared to Israel’s other frontiers with Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria, the border with Jordan is relatively open, featuring minimal fencing and limited guard presence. Consequently, it has become an easily exploited channel for large-scale smuggling operations.
Just last week, the Shin Bet agency disclosed that four Israeli citizens had been arrested on suspicion of having ties to the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah. These individuals were allegedly involved in smuggling Iranian-made explosive devices into Israel. Disturbingly, the agency revealed that these explosives were primarily intended for use in underworld attacks rather than for overt acts of terrorism.
