Israel’s Attacks on Gaza Hospitals Prompt Cease-Fire Call from Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has once again urged an immediate halt to Israel’s ongoing attacks on hospitals in Gaza, as they call for a cease-fire in the besieged enclave. Highlighting the dire situation, the organization stated that patients and medical staff have become trapped in the crossfire, putting their lives at risk.
The relentless assault on healthcare facilities in Gaza has raised serious concerns about the disregard for international humanitarian law. Al-Quds Hospital, for example, has lost contact with one of its surgeons and his family who are seeking shelter there. Additionally, Al Rantisi Hospital, which MSF has previously supported, reportedly finds itself surrounded by Israeli tanks.
MSF’s teams, along with hundreds of patients, remain inside Al-Shifa Hospital, which has become a symbol of hope amidst the chaos. In response, the organization is urgently reiterating its plea to cease attacks on hospitals, secure an immediate ceasefire, and ensure the protection of medical facilities, staff, and patients.
Expressing their outrage at the situation, MSF vehemently condemned the widespread endangerment of civilians confined within the walls of Al-Shifa Hospital. The Israeli military’s actions were described as a death warrant against innocent lives. Urgent and unconditional action is called for, demanding a ceasefire among all warring parties, and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to the entirety of Gaza.
In an effort to bring about change, MSF is calling on the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, member states of the League of Arab States, member states of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union to fulfill their repeated calls for the respect of international humanitarian law by taking decisive action and ensuring an immediate cease-fire.
The escalating conflict in Gaza has attracted global attention, with international organizations and concerned citizens expressing outrage and calling for an end to the violence.
