Internet services have been suspended in Saharanpur, India, as a precautionary measure following a Gurjar community march that flouted prohibitory orders. The community had decided to take out a procession to honour King Mihir Bhoj Pratihar, which had been opposed by the Rajput community. To avoid any confrontation between the two, the administration denied permission for the procession. As a result, internet services were suspended to prevent rumours on social media from inciting conflict. Additionally, police stopped Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan, headed to Saharanpur to attend a Gurjar community panchayat, to ensure public safety. Action will be taken against those who took the law into their own hands and vitiated the atmosphere, reassured Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada.
