India Proposes India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor for World Trade: PM Modi
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put forth a visionary proposal for the creation of an India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor during the recent G20 Summit. In his monthly radio program, Mann ki Baat, he emphasized that this corridor will serve as the foundation for global trade in the coming centuries. PM Modi drew parallels to the ancient Silk Route that India once thrived upon as a prosperous trading power.
The G20 Summit held great significance for India, particularly following the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. PM Modi highlighted the acknowledgment of India’s leadership by the world, as evidenced by the African Union being welcomed as a new member of the G20. He also mentioned the Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 Summit, which has become a popular spot for people to take selfies due to its modern conference hall.
PM Modi, recognizing the importance of the tourism sector, announced that September 27 is World Tourism Day. He emphasized that tourism is a sector that generates numerous job opportunities with minimal investment. India’s goodwill has flourished in recent years, resulting in over 100,000 foreign delegates visiting various parts of the country during the G20 meetings to experience its diverse culture and rich heritage.
The Prime Minister expressed his joy at the recent declarations of Santiniketan, associated with Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, and the Hoysala temples of Karnataka as world heritage sites. With 42 such sites now recognized, India continues to strive for more cultural and heritage landmarks to be designated as World Heritage Sites.
October 2 was identified as the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and during the G20 Summit, it was a memorable sight to witness world leaders paying their respects at his memorial. PM Modi emphasized the ongoing global relevance of Gandhi’s ideas.
In tribute to Gandhi ji, numerous cleanliness programs have been organized to commemorate his birth anniversary. The central government departments have launched the ‘Swachhta hi sewa’ (Cleanliness is Service) campaign, urging individuals to participate in a significant cleanliness drive at 10 am on October 1 in their localities or public spaces.
As a true homage to Gandhi ji, PM Modi also encouraged people to support the purchase of khadi products. He reminded everyone to prioritize the concept of ‘vocal for local’ and opt for ‘Made in India’ products during the upcoming festival season.
With the announcement of the India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor and various initiatives focused on tourism and cleanliness, India is once again showcasing its commitment to global economic growth and sustainable development. Prime Minister Modi’s visionary proposals and dedication to preserving India’s cultural heritage deserve recognition and support.
