Pakistan is using a combination of social media, local influencers, and narcotics to radicalize Kashmiri youth, according to a senior Indian army officer. Lieutenant General ADS Aujla, General Officer Commanding of Army’s 15 Corps, said that social media plays a crucial role in spreading extremist narratives that are then promoted by local Jamaat-e-Islami cadres. He also said that the use of narcotics to fund militant activities was a cause for concern and potentially damaging to the future generation of Kashmir. The officer explained that Indian authorities have launched various initiatives to counteract the propaganda, including educational programs, deradicalization initiatives, and medical support for drug addicts. Despite concerns about the use of drones to inject weapons and drugs into Kashmir, Aujla said the mountainous terrain of the region makes such activities difficult to carry out effectively.
