Homicide Investigation Launched as Body with Gunshot Wound Found at Houston Bus Stop
Houston authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a man’s body was discovered with a gunshot wound at a bus stop in southeast Houston. The incident occurred near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bellfort Avenue in the early hours of the morning.
Initially, the police received a call regarding a natural death around 4:30 a.m. However, as METRO police conducted their investigation, they alerted the medical examiner’s office, which subsequently discovered that the man had actually suffered a gunshot wound. Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Yasar Bashir stated that the nature of the man’s injuries did not align with a natural cause of death, leading them to suspect foul play.
Local residents informed the police that they believe the victim resided in the South Park area. METRO confirmed that buses commence their operations in the area as early as 4 a.m. Unfortunately, there are no surveillance cameras installed at the bus stops. Nevertheless, authorities are examining footage from buses that travel through the neighborhood.
