Former Air Force Officer Testifies: US Concealing Decades-Long UFO Program

A former Air Force intelligence officer, retired Maj. David Grusch, testified before a House Oversight subcommittee on Wednesday, claiming that the United States has been concealing a longstanding program that retrieves and reverse engineers unidentified flying objects (UFOs). However, the Pentagon has denied his claims.

The hearing focused on UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena), the official term used by the U.S. government instead of UFOs. Both Democrats and Republicans have expressed concerns about these sightings, considering them a national security matter possibly connected to U.S. adversaries.

Grusch disclosed that in 2019, he was asked by the head of a government task force on UAPs to identify all highly classified programs related to the task force’s mission. At the time, Grusch was working for the National Reconnaissance Office, which operates U.S. spy satellites. He stated that he was informed about a long-running UAP crash retrieval and reverse engineering program but was denied access to it.

Grusch also revealed that he believes the U.S. government has been aware of non-human activity since the 1930s. Although the Pentagon has denied any coverup, Grusch insists that his claims are true and has declared himself a government whistleblower. He has faced retaliation for coming forward but declined to provide specific details due to an ongoing investigation.

Lawmakers from both parties expressed bipartisan interest in Grusch’s claims and maintained a serious tone throughout the hearing. They questioned him about UFOs, the consequences he faced for speaking out, and how to gain more information about the U.S. government’s UAP programs.

Some members of Congress criticized the Pentagon for not being more transparent in a classified briefing or releasing images that could be made public. During previous hearings, Pentagon officials displayed a video taken from a military plane showing an image that resembled a balloon.

As of December, the Pentagon reported receiving several hundreds of new reports and stated that they have not found evidence to support the belief that the objects observed are of alien origin. Ron Moultrie, the undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security, emphasized that any unauthorized system in U.S. airspace is considered a threat to safety.

The hearing witnessed the testimonies of other experts, including Ryan Graves, Executive Director of Americans for Safe Aerospace, and retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. David Fravor. Many lawmakers urged for more transparency and reporting systems to shed light on these UAP sightings.

While the Pentagon continues to deny the existence of a coverup, Grusch’s testimony has added fuel to the ongoing discussions surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena. As the government investigates the reports and works to address concerns related to national security, the public remains intrigued by the possibility of extraterrestrial encounters.
