This latest incident comes as gun crime begins to rise again in the US, following a dip in 2020 numbers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As we reported earlier this month, the US saw three mass shootings in just one day, leading to calls for tighter gun controls across the country. Following months of isolation and uncertainty as a result of the pandemic, experts suggest that some individuals may have become more willing to use force to resolve conflicts, highlighting the need for ongoing support and mental health resources for vulnerable communities.
